TIMco unveils largest catalogue to date

TIMco, one of the UK’s largest, independent and fastest growing wholesalers to the construction industry, has launched its new Autumn / Winter 2019-2020 catalogue.

The new catalogue is its largest and most comprehensive to date and is a further step towards the company becoming a ‘one stop shop’ for all its customers' product needs.

The 18th edition of the catalogue features more than 7,000 products with 300 new lines including additions to core TIMco screws, fasteners and fixings as well as extensions to the Addax Power Tool Accessories range including Impact Driver Bit Sets and PCD circular saw blades.

The new catalogue also includes Stainless Steel additions to the TIMco Classic Multi-Purpose Screw range, more than 100 Steel Hinges in the VETO Security & Ironmongery range as well as a new Twin Slot Shelving System. For the first time a First Aid Range, Protective Board as well as a more comprehensive range of Adhesives & Building Chemicals such as TIMco’s Fill & Fix B1 Fire Rated PU Foam are all being showcased.

A new range of TIMco Addax Abrasives is showcased on pages 158 and 159, which consists of a wide variety of abrasive rolls, sheets, pads, discs and belts using premium quality abrasive grit. The whole range will be available from November and supported with a 16 Page Specialist Product Guide as well as an introductory video.

Due to the continually expanding range, it has been a busy and exciting six months for TIMco, as the company is also completing the final phase of testing on its new website which will go live nationwide before Christmas.

Bosch Professional FlexiClick 12V – now with brushless motor

BOSCH Professional has boosted the power of its popular FlexiClick 12V cordless drill driver system by adding a brushless motor. The resulting Bosch GSR 12V-35 FC Professional Drill Driver is faster, stronger, more efficient and longer lasting, as well as maintenance-free.

With its upgraded specification, short length, low weight and range of adapters, this tool promises even greater effectiveness in a diversity of high-precision tasks – especially in tight spaces and hard-to-reach situations.

Top speed has been increased by 35% to 1,750 rpm, while maximum torque has been raised to a powerful 35 Nm for hard screwdriving applications and 20 Nm for soft. Increasing maximum drilling diameter in wood to 32 mm (up 70%) and maximum screw diameter to 8 mm has also expanded the tool’s job range. At the same time, Bosch Professional have reduced its length by 17 mm compared to the previous model.

Unique adaptability

The four adapters – bit holder (with bit locking), drill chuck, angle attachment and off-set angle attachment – make this the most versatile and compact system in the market. Together they enable a total of eight possible configurations.

Bosch Professional is the only manufacturer whose angle adapter can be combined and used with any of the other three. Also unique is the ability to adjust the angle and off-set adapters directly on the tool. Sixteen working positions can be set without having to detach the adapter from the drill driver. MSM's new product line-up for Showman's Show

MORRIS Site Machinery is shining a light on its largest range of eco lighting towers at this year’s Showman’s Show, in line with the growing demand for ‘green’ machinery solutions. This year it will also be revealing some exciting new products, perfect for the events sector.

Centurion improves its offering of ratchet straps

Securing any load safely is also a legal requirement. According to the highways agency, in 2015 there were over 4,000 incidents involving ratchet straps. Construction dust control focus pays off for Armorgard

WORK platform specialist Armorgard has reported a 'substantial' increase in sales of its ground-breaking CuttingStation SS7X, following the recent HSE blitz on site dust.

Latest sales figures show a widespread uptake of these extraction and air filtration enabled mobile workstations, which are becoming an essential part of measures put in place by construction sites to protect workers’ lungs from the likes of asbestos, silica and wood dust.

Firms across mainland UK were subject to a series of inspections by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) in June this year focusing on dust control.

Growth in the dust extraction equipment market is also being influenced by a greater focus on collaboration between contractors and manufacturers to come up with designs and concepts for new solutions to health and safety challenges.

Armorgard say their annual Innovation Workshop, which takes place in London this week, has seen a marked increase in the number of senior safety, site or project-management representatives in attendance.

The firm said its long-held policy of supplying high grade products as solutions that increase health and safety to UK construction had paid-off.

Norton Clipper launches mini masonry saw to boost summer sales

NORTON Clipper has introduced an all new masonry saw to its range, promoting safer and smarter working, in order to help distributors to boost sales throughout the summer months.

In 2016, over 30 million work days were lost in the UK due to musculoskeletal problems. Ecoline+ hits the mark at Watford FC

PITCHMARK'S Ecoline+ has become the line marking paint of choice for FA Premier League club Watford FC.

The demand for using a premium paint at the Vicarage Road stadium led to trials last season, since when Pitchmark have been further developing Ecoline+. Watford FC became the first to use the improved formula at the opening game of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion in August this year.

In 2018 Scott Tingley, Head Groundsman at Watford FC, set out on what was originally a cost exercise and to see if they could establish the use of one paint for all marking.

“We were using top end paint for the stadium and bottom end for the other pitches,” he says, “we wanted to make it one paint but of course the cost had to be taken into account. We looked at Pitchmark and what we found different was their specialisation solely in line marking products.”

The club had been using Pitchmark’s Direct at the Watford FC training ground and academy, located at the University College London Union Shenley Sports grounds in St Albans. Home to five full-size and two goalkeeping/warmup natural grass training pitches as well as a full-size artificial turf training pitch and fourteen college/academy natural grass pitches, there’s a sizeable amount of line marking required. In the stadium only premium quality is acceptable. Ecoline+ offered the ideal all-round solution.  Ecoline+ is one of the most advanced, low volume, ready-to-use line marking paints available, especially when used in combination with Pitchmark’s Eco and Hybrid markers and special nozzles.

Scott says: “we trialled Ecoline+ and we had no issues, only benefits. We use a Pitchmark Hybrid marker which gives us the quality of a spray marker, without compromising the precision and quality of a transfer marker. Fixture dependent, we can mark up to three times a week and with the traditional wheel to wheel and four-wheel spray markers you lose ground cover and it’s too easy to transfer paint.”

The Pitchmark Hybrid overcomes these problems with a three-wheeled spray design, which is easily manoeuvred over wet lines. The cone nozzles give perfect deep leaf coverage, so you only need one pass.

“It’s easy to use, it feels like a normal wheel marker and you get premium quality.” Scott adds, “it’s quite complex though and needs looking after but if we have any issues Olly Boys, the Turfix rep, gives us second to none service and back-up.” (Turfix is Pitchmark’s recently formed sole UK distribution arm).
