YHC Hire Solutions invest in MHM generators

The Executive Hire Show’s underwritten slogan reads; “Where passionate hirers meet passionate suppliers.” This motto was aptly evidenced when one such hirer, YHC Hire Solutions encountered an equally enthusiastic supplier in MHM Plant, at this year’s show.

YHC Hire Solutions operations director, Jim Patch explained, “We always attend the Executive Hire Show with the intent to make purchases for our hire fleet. There are often show exclusives and it gives us the opportunity to meet the suppliers face to face”.

“This year,” continued Jim, “We placed a sizable order with MHM Plant for a line of their generators and, in particular, their larger ‘rental spec’ sets for our burgeoning event hire division. We were immediately impressed with the build quality of the units and the positive attitude of the MHM team.”

The YHC Hire Solutions generator fleet is now enhanced by 20, 35 and 45kVA super-silenced, multi-voltage MHM Rental Specification sets. They are each powered by the latest Yanmar diesel engine combined with a Linz alternator. The power output is managed by a Deep Sea controller and a unique MHM-Gen engine protection, shut down system, helps to ensure safe operation. With a fully bunded base and robust canopy, YHC Hire Solutions clients can be assured that they will be experiencing the very latest in temporary power.

YHC Hire Solutions also purchased a line of MHM 3kVA petrol sets for general construction use at the show.

Commenting on this order, Mat Llewellyn, MHM managing director said, “We were anticipating keen interest from the UK rental trade in our new line of generators and allied equipment. To receive this order from Jim and his team; helped to make the show one of our most successful trade shows to date.”

YHC Hire Solutions are an independent, family owned hire company, with over 30 years' experience in the rental industry, specialising in tool and plant hire for the professional and DIY enthusiast. They have over 1000 carefully selected items currently available for hire, ranging from mini excavators to power tools, alongside power generation products and specialist surveying equipment. For removing problematic materials from concrete, stone and ceramic tiles, The Preparation Group, a leading expert in environmentally friendly solutions for surface preparation, polishing, cleaning and dust containment, recommends the 180 Grinder. Ideal for professional and domestic use, its steel construction and powerful 2.5kw motor (6,600rpm) offers optimum grinding performance combined with simplicity and greater user comfort.

The 180 Grinder’s compact design might not look as big and impressive as other 110v/240v models on the market but it packs a punch, efficiently cleaning and keying all types of surfaces, removing concrete laitance, smoothing and levelling, de-scaling and removing glue, bitumous adhesives and paint, including thermoplastic lines.

Interchangeable accessories include turbo grinding discs for hard and soft floors and PCD’s (Polycrystalline Diamond discs) for removal of adhesive and other sticky substances.

Its condensed design enables the 180 Grinder to prepare confined spaces, tight areas and edges inaccessible to larger plant and means no more kneeling or stretching. Anti-vibration features remove the risk of hand/arm vibration meaning that there is no restriction on the length of usage. Weighing only 22.7kg and featuring a simple fold-down handle, it is quickly assembled and disassembled and easily stored and transported in a standard car boot. The unique steel floating dust shroud provides airflow, preventing restriction of movement for ease of use and is designed to be connected to a vacuum for complete dust control.

Says Tracey Glew, Group Managing Director; ‘The 180 Grinder, at up to half the price of competing grinders and operating six times faster, eats through adhesives, bitumen, sticky residue, asbestos and tar. Pairing it with one of our vacuum models creates a formidable team with no handling of dust. Robust for daily use, the 180 Grinder is a cost-effective solution, offering high productivity with low operating costs and no maintenance, for an impressive ROI and hire potential.’

The Nordic market leader in fastening ESSVE to enter UK market

After 50 years in business, ESSVE took a giant leap five years ago with the launch of the ESSBOX system, an integrated fastening system developed in close cooperation with professional craftsmen to make their everyday life more efficient. Now the system goes global.

One of the reasons behind ESSVE´s strong growth is its close collaboration with retailers. As ESSVE offers a one-of-a-kind integrated fastening system including a wide assortment of fastening solutions (around 5000 articles), the company also serves as a partner to its retailers and as a support in the development of their businesses.

“Our strength is our constant focus on the end-user, their experience and challenges. Today, 500 million ESSVE screws are sold every year, or 61 per second", says Johan Cederstrand, International Sales Director at ESSVE.

In connection with the brands global launch ESSVE is also presenting “the world’s best wood screw” – ESSDRIVE

ESSDRIVE is the result of four years of research and development that began in 2014. Some of Sweden’s leading engineers and developers from Chalmers University of Technology have been involved in the work. Compared to standard wood screws, ESSDRIVE saves the shoulders by reducing the compressive force needed by two-thirds. Thanks to the design of the tip and thread, maximum starting power is achieved at minimal pressure, which makes the screw feel extremely “fast-starting”.

“ESSDRIVE represents a completely new type of wood screw - from the tip and thread to the shank and head. ESSDRIVE is the ergonomic choice for the craftsman, it bites directly, does not cause splitting, has a high clamping force and gives the work a nice finish. Essdrive is a game changer!” says Max Lagerstedt, CEO of ESSVE.

Perfect wall sanding with Mirka’s new flexible LEROS

Mirka UK is launching its lightest and most advanced wall and ceiling sander in April. This unique brushless sander features innovative solutions, including a sanding head with 180° flexibility and a 5 mm random orbital movement, making it extremely user friendly.

The flexible and practical design gives unmatched advantages, such as ergonomic working positions and less strain on the operator's body and back. At less than 3.5 kg, the operator can sand for longer periods without fatigue.

With Mirka® LEROS, the operator can work very close to corners thanks to the sanding head and backing pad design. Due to the random orbital movement, Mirka® LEROS responds precisely to the operator's movements making the sanding process easy. In addition, it also creates a smoother better finish.

Maintenance of the tool is also minimised as there are no carbon brushes to be changed.  When combined with the Mirka’s dust-free net abrasives and suitable dust extraction, the Mirka® LEROS provides dust-free sanding, making the working environment cleaner and healthier.

The Mirka® LEROS is available with or without a storage bag. An extension pole can also be purchased to increase the reach by 50cm.

Pete Sartain, industrial sales manager for the UK, says, “After years of research and development to make the most lightweight, ergonomic and user-friendly wall and ceiling sander on the market, the Mirka® LEROS provides 180-degree flexibility, 100 per cent comfort and 100 per cent perfection, no matter the angle.”

A Perry launches new market leading black antique ironmongery range

Reinforcing its long established West Midlands roots, A Perry & Co (Hinges) Ltd, a leading independent, family-owned British manufacturer and supplier, is introducing Old Hill Ironworks, a high-quality door furniture range which specialises in black antique ironmongery originating from the heart of the Black Country. The products are designed to appeal to consumers through their premium components, superior finish, 12-year mechanical guarantee plus pricing which potentially delivers higher profit margins for distributors and stockists.

Endorsing the company’s commitment to excellent standards, Old Hill Ironworks has been salt spray tested for a market leading 700 hours to guarantee its extended reliability. Staying true to A Perry’s traditions of quality manufacturing, Old Hill Ironworks is created using high-quality malleable steel which makes it more flexible and less brittle and likely to break. With a protective inner coating and a strong, robust UV colour fast 'first use' outer coating, the range offers a superior industry leading finish.

The high-quality innovative products are the result of precision engineering and are designed to bring an elegance and style to every doorway, satisfying the market’s strictest requirements. The collection includes lever handles; mortice knobs; pull handles; gate furniture; front door fittings; window fittings; cabinet hardware; tee hinges and hinge fronts.

Ian Dunnaker, company director, says, "The name of the range is a tribute to the early days of the company, which started over four generations ago at the ironworks in Old Hill. The style and elegance of the Old Hill Ironworks range lies in the attention to detail we have taken in designing this durable range which will stand the test of time. The malleable cast iron we chose to work with has the best shock resistance and is ductile, making it the ideal material to work with. In addition, the product’s stainless-steel mechanism allows for a softer and more progressive lever operation. We are confident that our offering will enable distributors to benefit from increased sales and higher profit margins."

A trade only supplier, A Perry & Co is challenging industry standards by investing in and creating professional merchandising and POS options to complement the door furniture range. These include merchandiser stands, display boards, handle plinths, posters featuring lifestyle imagery and entrance decals, all designed to help the distributor gain sales. Perry is also offering great dealer incentives, with distributors encouraged to contact Perry to see what great offers they can benefit from.

Endorsing Perry’s ‘green’ commitment, the range has new eye-catching, retail and user-friendly packaging, which is recyclable and reusable. Underlining the company’s commitment to its distributors, Perry will also supply the leads generated from advertising and PR and will offer technical support to retailers and their customers, assisting, if required, to gain large complex contracts and orders.

Armorgard Launches Crucial Dust Protection Solution

Armorgard has enhanced its already extensive range of high quality, safety driven products with the introduction of XtractaBench, an innovative mobile workbench designed to protect building and construction workers from fumes or dust whilst cutting, grinding, drilling, routing, or working with materials such as plasterboard, wood, and metal.

Launched today, XtractaBench will be available nationwide through selected tool hire shops and traditional distribution outlets.

Created following extensive R&D, and with the help of external expert, XtractaBench offers a welcome solution to enable companies to fulfil a legal duty to prevent exposure to substances that can cause health problems as per the Control of Substance Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) act.

Regularly breathing in dust, caused by cutting or grinding construction materials, can cause life-changing lung diseases which can lead to death.

Terry Mitchell, Managing Director of Armorgard said of the new product launch:  "We are very proud to be at the forefront of providing safety solutions like this which prevent devastating and irreversible effects.

“Anyone that is cutting grinding, drilling, routing, working with plasterboard materials on a work surface, particularly in a confined space, is at risk.”

Featuring unique Armorgard design technology, the XtractaBench draws dust and fumes directly away from the working area thanks to a perforated downdraft work surface.

XtractaBench has a built-in collection hopper to catch heavier particles and dust, and a fold-down external shelf to mount M or H class vacuums for on-tool extraction. It is also compatible with most air and dust filtration systems.

Commenting on the benefits of the new product Armorgard R&D Manager Matt Partridge said: “As well as preventing the user from inhaling harmful dust, and reducing dust in the air for those nearby, XtractaBench also provides a solution for hire shops to clean their tools when back from hire – a feature that we believe will appeal to them in terms of cost efficiency and resourcing."

Armorgard has almost 30 years’ experience designing products to improve health, safety and security, with a team of in-house designers, engineers, application specialists and researchers

specialising to companies across the building, construction and property industries.

Terry Mitchell added: “In our industry, Armorgard has unprecedented expertise and is committed to providing quality products that are fully tested. The XtractaBench has been developed over a considerably long period, with the help of dust experts who have advised on the design, and carries the highest industry standards to ensure our customers have the safest potentially life-saving product.”

New Stubby VDE Slim Screwdriver 4 Pack - They're not big, but they are clever!

Following on from its successful launch of the world’s first fixed blade Stubby VDE Screwdriver, Carl Kammerling International, the leading supplier of products to the industrial, construction, electronic and security industries, has introduced the Stubby VDE Slim Screwdriver 4 Pack, containing all 4 sizes of this clever little range of safe, slim, stubby screwdrivers, that guarantee the safety which comes from a VDE product.

Following research with professional electricians, Carl Kammerling quickly identified that most carry a non-insulated stubby screwdriver, despite understanding the importance of tool insulation.  The C.K Stubby VDE Slim Screwdrivers filled this problematic void perfectly, by featuring a shorter length (ideal for use in confined spaces) and full VDE approval, to provide the assurance that each product is individually tested to 10,000V for safe working up to 1,000V.

Quality chrome vanadium steel blades provide exceptional strength and durability, whilst the slim shaft allows easy access to recessed screws and fixings.  In addition, all 4 screwdrivers feature tip type markings for easy identification, together with anti-roll flats to prevent the screwdriver from rolling off sloping surfaces.

Manufactured in Germany, the C.K Stubby VDE Slim Screwdriver 4 Pack contains:

  • T48344-040 SL4.0mm x 1
  • T48344-050 SL5.5mm x 1
  • T48343-2 PZD2 x 1
  • T48345-2 MOD2 x 1

Claire Griffiths, Product & Marketing Executive at Carl Kammerling, comments:  “The C.K Stubby VDE Slim Screwdriver range is proving a real winner and demand has been increasing for a set which contained all 4 sizes.

“We were keen, therefore, to offer consumers the convenience of being able to pick up a complete set and we are delighted to be able to meet this demand with the introduction of the new Stubby VDE Slim Screwdriver 4 Pack.

The Set is priced at £33.52 and also available for the trade in the Carl Kammerling Fusebox Promotion.
