Van Vault launches its first consumer campaign

AS part of its latest brand investment Van Vault, the originators of in-vehicle secure storage, has launched its first ever consumer campaign - signifying the brand’s biggest investment in marketing to date.

Van Vault’s 2019 campaign, ‘Always Van Vault’ has been created to drive awareness of the new and improved Van Vault vehicle range which launched in March.

The online campaign features creative video and digital activity aimed at highlighting how Van Vault has been a dependable part of the lives of tradespeople up and down the country for over 20 years. The quality of the Van Vault range has given peace of mind to thousands, and allowed them to get on with their jobs without the worry of tool theft. It features genuine Van Vault customers and is less about the technical specs of the product and more about how it fits into real lives and real work.

A market-leading support package has also been created to support Van Vault’s national network of resellers to help drive the campaign and deliver sales in store – and follows Van Vault’s research into the shopping habits of its trade customers.

Deborah Hunt, Marketing Manager at Van Vault, adds “From national coverage on social media to a targeted cross-trade video strategy, we’re promoting the strongest Van Vault range to date with an equally strong marketing campaign.

“We’re reaching out to trades people directly to build brand awareness. As the number one brand in the sector it’s vital we continue to extend and invest in the Van Vault name in a creative way. This is the first time we’ve reached out to consumers directly thus helping support our resellers and driving trade customers in store. We have confidence that this campaign is going to raise a lot of awareness for the Van Vault brand.”

Van Vault’s recent marketing research covering a number of key trades, including builders, electricians and plumbers showed that when buying secure storage solutions for their van, the preferred choice is to purchase in-store. The report found that 38 per cent of trades customer rely on merchants / stores for recommendations and information and 1 in 4 seek expert advice from a member of staff.

Van Vault is the first vehicle storage product on the market to be accredited by Secured by Design - the UK’s Police approved standard and has achieved a Silver Sold Secure certification too. Secured by Design promotes products which prevent crime and it’s the only form of police approval for UK products.

As the UK’s number one brand for containers that store and secure tools in vehicles, Van Vault has already invested significantly in its marketing activity this year. The brand has invested in understanding how end-users buy. Research showed initial online research is done to look for product information, but visibility in-store is essential as customers want to actually see the product before purchasing in-store.

The independent market research also showed that Van Vault is still the first brand that comes to mind, as is mentioned nearly twice as much as any other competitors without being prompted. Out of the 14 brands mentioned, Van Vault proved to be the leader in spontaneous awareness.

Celebrating its 21st anniversary this year, Van Vault is the UK’s premier brand of containers for storing and securing tools in vehicles. The brand offers a range of eight vehicle storage products, each designed for use in different types of vehicles, as well as a selection of on-site secure storage which are stocked by a range of distributors across the UK.

Mecalac unveils updated MBR-71 pedestrian roller

UNVEILED at this year's Executive Hire Show back in February, Mecalac’s iconic MBR-71 has been updated, further increasing its reputation as the construction industry’s favourite single drum pedestrian roller.

Available now, the all-new model has been redesigned to incorporate hydrostatic drive, bringing greater flexibility and ease of use for site workers. In addition, a series of key engineering updates to improve performance and safety have been introduced.

Specifically designed for the compaction of granular and asphalt materials, the MBR-71 is perfectly suited to applications including highway repair, footpaths, cycle lanes, playgrounds and landscaping environments. Its proven design provides superb balance, ensuring best-in-class manoeuvrability in tight spaces - making it the contractor’s ‘go to’ roller.

Removing the clutch and belt arrangement results in fewer maintenance requirements, while a 35% increase in water tank volume has significantly increased working range. Moving operating controls to the handle ensures safer and more ergonomically-friendly operation, complementing a new ‘spring applied’ hydraulic release handbrake, which activates when pressure is lost to maximise operator safety.

Paul Macpherson, UK Sales and Marketing Director at Mecalac CEUK, commented: “Our MBR-71 is a common sight on construction sites across the UK. Being so well established, it would be tempting not to change the winning formula. However, we are always listening to our customers and are committed to constantly improving the performance of our products.

“We’ve worked hard to bring a number of great enhancements to the latest model – which we think will be warmly welcomed by contactors and site workers alike. To coin a phrase, we’re confident we just made the best even better!”

Armorgard introduces all-new InstaGate crowd control barrier

ARMORGARD today introduced the all-new InstaGate: a multi-purpose, eye-catching modular crowd control barrier, which comes equipped with a unique latching system that makes it incredibly easy and remarkably quick to deploy in virtually any situation.

The UK's leading site safety and security products manufacturer says it is responding to increasing market demands with InstaGate readily available in volume for distributors who want to sell the item on a next day delivery basis or for hire companies who want to buy in bulk to keep plenty in stock.

"We are very excited to release this new product that will enable Armorgard to provide customers with the next generation of crowd control barrier," said Armorgard Managing Director Terry Mitchell. "Our customers want a product that is quick to order and quick to deploy. InstaGate ticks both boxes."

Made from strong, lightweight aluminium, the Armorgard mobile barrier is designed for easy movement and secure placement. With its braked wheels and a unique latching system, InstaGate can extend to any length and be opened and fixed single-handedly. Once expanded and braked, InstaGate forms a highly visible red and white barrier. Multiple units can be easily locked together.

“Armorgard has always believed quality product innovations can truly enhance everyday life, and this commitment has helped us reinvent the standard crowd control barrier,” said Terry. “Similarly, we believe customers should expect more from new products in terms of user experience. The InstaGate crowd control barrier delivers on this notion."

InstaGate, which is available in 4ft and 6ft heights, can be used with standard scaffold claps for fixing to scaffold or to turn corners. Armorgard say the product is durable, weather proof, designed for low wind resistance and very user friendly.

"Making life easier for those who use our products is at the core of our design thinking, and we are proud to use the full strength of our R&D capability to set a new standard in crowd control barriers,” said Armorgard’s Head of Product Development Matt Partridge. “When we began this project, we started with a blank sheet and asked ourselves ‘what does the customer truly need in a barrier?’ Our new system answers this question through an ergonomic design that offers the utmost in functionality, durability and security.”

Ledlenser launch portable LED area worklights

LEDLENSER, the premier name in LED torches and headlamps, stunningly deploys its world-renowned lighting expertise to develop its first series of portable rechargeable LED area worklights for industrial use.

State-of-the-art technologies are combined with premium-grade materials and precision German engineering to deliver an Optimised Lumen Advantage across the two powerful floodlights and four incredibly bright inspection lamps.

Floodlights. Ideal for when larger work areas need consistent, bight and even illumination, the 2500lm iF4R and 4500lm iF8R floodlights both have five brightness levels to suit the user's needs. They can be affixed to metallic surfaces via the integrated magnets and the ability to be placed flat on a surface or angled using the ergonomic pivoting handle. An additional ingenious feature of the iF8R floodlight is that it is Bluetooth enabled. This provides the ability for light options to be controlled via a smartphone in conjunction with the Ledlenser Pro Connect App installed on it: ideal for when you can’t reach the light to change setting but do have your smart phone handy.

Inspection Lamps. If an inspection type lamp is the preferred method of illumination, then the four in this new series stand above the crowd. Comprising the 150lm iW4R, 300lm iW5R, 600lm iW5R-FLEX and 600lm iW7R, each can be held in the hand, affixed to a metallic surface with the incorporated magnet or hung using the integral hook/clip. As well as the broad beam from the inspection lamp each light also features an additional LED which delivers a powerful spot beam thanks to the Advanced Reflector Lens Optic that is a Ledlenser speciality.

All models in this series are rechargeable meaning that they are kinder on the pocket and on the planet. Embedded battery indicators help users keep track of how much battery charge is available in use and, whilst recharging, they indicate how much of the battery has yet to be charged.

Paresh Ruparelia from Ledlenser UK said: “We’ve waited a long time for a range of Ledlenser area work lights and we think it’s been well worth the wait. As well as being seriously bright and offering numerous lighting options, our expert use of materials makes this range extremely robust and lightweight. Add to this the seven-year with registration warranty that provides complete peace of mind and you can see why this range is already proving a massive winner.”

Wiha wins Red Dot award with new slimBit boxes

HAND tool manufacturer Wiha has been honoured with a Red Dot Award: Product Design 2019. Its new slimBit boxes have earned the prestigious Red Dot, which the meticulous jury awards exclusively to products displaying excellent design.

Wiha has created a compact transport, removal and storage option with its new slimBit boxes for 6 or 12 slimBits. The product has been developed to provide users with a significant advantage in handling slimBits during their day-to-day professional life.

In the large sets, 12 slimBits with different profiles are stored in two boxes containing six bits each. This allows users to carry slimBits around safely, neatly arranged in a box. When open, the box offers users an optimum view of screw profiles, enabling users to select and remove profiles quickly. Users can handle profiles with a single hand thanks to the practical belt clip.

Wiha slimBits excel due to their slender shape and protection against electric shock, making them particularly advantageous for use in the electrician's trade. They have been developed based on new market knowledge and user surveys to offer a functional solution with added value.

"Being awarded the Red Dot affirms the high design quality behind the product. We are immensely proud that the special features in the product's design have been recognised and honoured with the Red Dot," said a pleased Ronny Lindskog, Wiha's Director of Sales and Marketing.

Professor Peter Zec, the Red Dot initiator and CEO, also praised the winner: "I congratulate the award winners warmly on their great success. The fact that their products were able to hold their ground during the jury's strict assessment is a testament to their exceptional design quality. This allows the winners to set influential trends in the design sector and point the way to where things may lead in the future."

The Red Dot Award: Product Design is one of the world's largest design competitions. Designers and manufacturers from 55 countries submitted more than 5,500 products to the competition in 2019. Bahco holds the key to tool storage

AS workshop managers come under relentless pressure to deliver improved productivity, often with fewer skilled hands, the benefits of professional tool storage and management grow stronger.

Bahco’s highly flexible Ergonomic Tool Management system, BETMS, enables engineers, technicians, mechanics and other tool users working in trade or industry to know exactly where to find every tool they need, when they need it, saving time and easing stress.

Bahco’s Configurator software is the driving force, enabling customers to choose the size, style and colours of tool storage trolleys and judge how many drawers they will need to hold each tool group.

Lubricant resistant foam inlays in each profiled drawer can be customised to provide the logical, easy access layout of tools and equipment which professional tool users require.

It’s a tailor made system designed to help deliver great performance and results.

Also, noticing that a tool is missing from its designated place in a drawer protects against the risk of foreign object debris and the potential for damage it can cause.

Already in widespread global use within the aerospace, automotive and oil and gas sectors, Bahco’s tool management system brings order to schedule and budget driven workplaces.
